As the local State Member of Parliament, Ann Barker helps make sure the Oakleigh electorate gets its fair share of funding and resources from the Brumby Government. Including:
- $4.8 million boost for Holmesglen TAFE in Chadstone
- boosted funding to Chisholm Institute of TAFE
- program at Holmesglen TAFE to stem student drop out rates
- upgrade of Holmesglen TAFE’s telecommunications system
- increased funding for teacher training at Holmesglen and Chisholm TAFE
- more local job services through the Community Business Employment Program
- new notebook computers for teachers at Holmesglen TAFE
- funding to establish Local Learning and Employment Networks incorporating Glen Eira and Monash
- local Community Jobs Programs
- funding for the Youth Pathways Program to Holmesglen TAFE and Chisholm TAFE
- increased funding to Energy and Telecommunications Training Australia (ETTA) Chadstone for the Government's Flexible Learning Strategy
- $171,000 to ETTA Chadstone to fund a mobile training facility to promote sustainable energy practices
- $500 Trades Bonus to assist all first-year apprentices
- $650,000 for extensions and refurbishment to ICT Department, Holmesglen TAFE
- $100,000 for extensions to Carpentry Barn at Holmesglen TAFE
