Getting Results - Seniors
As the local State Member of Parliament, Ann Barker helps make sure the Oakleigh electorate gets its fair share of funding and resources from the Brumby Government. Including:
- older persons units built on former Police Station site in Atkinson Street Oakleigh
- increased funding for Home and Community Care programs in Monash and Glen Eira
- assistance for older people moving into public housing in Monash
- funded fall prevention research at Monash University
- supported safety programs organised by the Oakleigh Police Community Consultative Committee
- grants for local Senior Citizens Week activities
- boosted funding for SouthernHealth's 'Rehabilitation in the Home' program
- partnership with Glen Eira Council to replace 30 older persons housing units
- new Home and Community Care program to assist older people from multicultural backgrounds
- increase funding for respite and support services for carers of frail older people
- funding increase for safety aids and mobility equipment
- increased municipal rates concession to $160 for holders of Pension Concession Card or Veterans' Affairs Gold Card and index every year
- $10.5 million for Caulfield General Medical Centre Nursing Home
