Getting Results - Multicultural Affairs
As the local State Member of Parliament, Ann Barker helps make sure the Oakleigh electorate gets its fair share of funding and resources from the Brumby Government. Including:
- additional funding for interpreting and translation services in Monash
- funds for new multicultural resources at the Monash library service
- increased funding to local community groups through Multicultural Commission grants
- funds for the Oakleigh Migrant Resource Centre’s community jobs program
- grant for new vehicle and computer equipment for multicultural home care services in the Oakleigh area
- Victorian Multicultural Commission grant for South Central Region Migrant Resource Centre for their "Celebrating Faith and Culture" festival
- $20,000 to RussianLink Inc Carnegie to establish online facilities
- funding to Glen Eira and Monash Council to increase access to multicultural Home and Community Care services
- Multicultural Commission grant to Greek Orthodox Community of Oakleigh and districts to assist with community services and facilities
