As the local State Member of Parliament, Ann Barker helps make sure the Oakleigh electorate gets its fair share of funding and resources from the Brumby Government. Including:
- supported the establishment of a new waste water treatment plant at Lockwood Security in Oakleigh

- grant for the rehabilitation of Scotchman’s Creek
- sponsored South Eastern Regional Business and Environment Event
- introduced program through Yarra Valley Water to help low income households reduce water consumption
- grants for heritage planning advisers in Glen Eira and Monash
- provided assistance to the Oakleigh Historical Society for a document archive project
- grant of $10,000 to Glen Eira Council for management plan for Boyd Park Murrumbeena
- installation of solar hot-water units in public housing in Chadstone
- grants of $94,500 to Monash Council to build a new pedestrian bridge over Scotchman's Creek Oakleigh
- $900,000 Melbourne Water initiative to construct the Huntingdale Road wetland
- rebates on water efficient and water saving products made available
- implementation of the Water Conservation Assistance Pilot Program in Glen Eira to assist low income earners with repairs, maintenance and replacement of water related plumbing fixtures
- $20,000 Heritage Victoria grant to Greek Orthodox Church Glen Huntly for structural rectification
- $20,000 funding for state-of-the-art energy and water saving laundry system at Oak Towers Aged care facility
