As the local State Member of Parliament, Ann Barker helps make sure the Oakleigh electorate gets its fair share of funding and resources from the Brumby Government. Including:

  • $500,000 for the new library in Carnegie
  • assisted with the establishment of the new South Eastern Regional Veterans' Centre in Oakleigh
  • funding for the building plans for the new community centre in Carnegie
  • funding for council library services
  • additional funds for local community-based day care centres to upgrade facilities
  • funded local services, projects and equipment for the disabled
  • improved services for homeless people and families
  • boosted funding for the Monash-Oakleigh Legal Service in Clayton North
  • $500,000 to renew public housing in Carnegie
  • funding to refurbish the old Oakleigh Courthouse as a community and cultural centre
  • increased funding to Monash and Glen Eira Councils for maternal and child health services
  • funding for Oakleigh Youth Football Club for a pictorial history of the club through the local history grants
  • Accommodation Innovation Grant to EW Tipping Foundation to provide long term sustainable accomodation support for people living with a disability
  • funding for WEAC for Foster Carers Assistance, Support, Training and Recruitment" under the Victorian Volunteer Small Grants program
  • funding to Life Saving Victoria for "Mentor and Role Model Recruitment Project" under the Victorian Volunteer Small Grants program
  • $30,500 to Glen Eira council for Commonwealth Games celebration activities
  • $55,000 to Monash council for Commonwealth Games celebration activities
  • $2,435 to Oakleigh-Carnegie RSL to restore and re-gild World War 1 Honour Rolls
  • $7,000 to Oakleigh Primary School to restore and relocate War Memorial Gates to their original location
  • Local History grant to Oakleigh Historical Society to preserve their photographic collection
  • funding to provide local SES volunteers with new uniforms and equipment
  • $2 million towards the redevelopment of the Oakleigh Centre for Intellectually Disabled Citizens
