As the local State Member of Parliament, Ann Barker helps make sure the Oakleigh electorate gets its fair share of funding and resources from the Brumby Government. Including:

  • funding for plans to improve the Oakleigh and Carnegie shopping centres, and funding for the Glen Huntly Activity Centre
  • funding to Monash and Glen Eira Councils to support small business in Oakleigh, Hughesdale, Carnegie, Glen Huntly, Murrumbeena and Ormond through the Street Life Program
  • funding for Ormond shopping strip for 'Safer Routes to Shops' program
  • establishment of the Australian Synchrotron at Monash University, Clayton, creating up to 700 jobs
  • funding to assist 10 Monash companies involved in international investment
  • Victoria Fellowship grants awarded to two local scientists
  • launched a business activity centres study in Carnegie
  • 'Listening to Small Business' program held in Oakleigh
  • grant to develop an innovative e-commerce project at Monash University Clayton
  • $11,500 'Grow Your Business Grant' to Carnegie firm
  • increase in land tax threshold from $85,000 in 1999 to $175,000, a reduction in the top land tax rate and an upward adjustment over two years to land tax brackets between $675,000 and $1,080,000
  • stamp duty threshold lifted to $250,000 (from May 1), upper limit for partial exemption increased to $350,000
  • reduction in Workcover premium rate
  • abolition of stamp duty on mortgage documents
  • $15,000 'Grow Your Business Grant' to Monash Council to assist local business
