$4.8 million boost to Monash maternity services

Ann Barker, Member for Oakleigh, joined the Minister for Health, Daniel Andrews, to inspect the $4.8 million construction of the new pregnancy assessment unit at Monash Medical Centre Clayton.

Daniel Andrews said that the unit will allow for the assessment of women who are having complicated pregnancies, enabling antenatal monitoring and care in a purpose-built setting.

The new assessment unit will consist of four treatment chairs, two patient beds and two multifunction rooms that can be used for either extra delivery suites or for assessment.

“Importantly the new unit will be a marvellous resource for local mums and ensure pregnant women have access to appropriate specialised quality maternity care,” Ann Barker said
